The Sprinkler Fitter Pre-Apprenticeship program provides hands-on training in designing, installing, and repairing automatic fire protection systems. You’ll change your life while protecting the lives of others.

Our Sprinkler Fitter pre-apprenticeship program is designed to prepare you with the hands-on training, practical skills, and core courses needed to get started toward career success and satisfaction in the trades. Upon successful completion of our program, trainees earn Core and Level 1 NCCER trade certifications as well as *2,000 hours of on-the-job training credit, which qualifies you for employment with an organization that can sponsor your continued education as a registered apprentice.

Florida Trade Academy’s Sprinkler Fitter Program

  • 150 hours of live virtual classes and hands-on training
  • All trainees are registered in the National Center for Construction Education & Research’s (NCCER) registry to track earned credentials.
  • Weeks 1-8 Core: Introduction to Basic Construction Skills NCCER Certification
  • Weeks 9-24: Level 1 NCCER Sprinkler Fitter Certification

*2,000 OTJ hours are applied when entering an ABC Florida Gulf Coast Registered Apprenticeship

Sprinkler Fitter Career Outlook

The employment outlook for sprinkler fitters is projected to increase over the coming years. Fire and safety, plumbing, and construction companies offer high-paying jobs in the field. In addition, advancement opportunities are great, as experienced sprinkler fitters may promote to supervisors or project managers or go into business for themselves.

What Will I Do as a Sprinkler Fitter?

Some everyday job duties of sprinkler fitters include:
  • Installing, maintaining, inspecting, and repairing circuit breaker panels, fuse boxes, relays, switches, and other distribution and control equipment
  • Installing sprinkler and hose systems
  • Inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing defective sprinkler systems
  • Assembling pipes and fittings that carry water to and from sprinklers
  • Educating clients on their systems and fire prevention
  • Welding pipes according to blueprint specifications
